Marc Grauwels is undoubtedly one of the Belgian flutists most catching the limelight today. Even before having finished his musical studies he made his orchestral debute, aged only nineteen, with the Flemish Opera. In 1976 he joined the Monnaie Theatre as piccolo solo, and left it in 1978 to become first flute soloist in the Symphonic Orchestra of the Belgian radio and television. In February 2001, the world leaders of Naxos in Hong Kong decided to dedicate to him a special collection called “The Flute Collection” in their catalog. The coming years this Marc Grauwels collection will bring out 30 CDs.
